The B&B design philosophy

Built to exceed what you paid for

Graham Byrnes trained as a shipwright in Australia, circumnavigated in a boat of his own design, and settled on the North Carolina sounds forty years ago. The designs that followed are built around one principle: if you're spending the time and money building a boat, it should reward you beyond your expectations.

01

Fast by design — not by accident

Wide, flat sterns and shallow-V hull forms that plane well beyond theoretical hull speed. Six Everglades Challenge Class-4 wins and two course records prove it.

02

Stable when it matters

High bilges, wide decks, generous beam — boats that are forgiving in open water. A cat-ketch rig you can reef with one hand.

03

The builder's experience matters

Inspired by Meade Gougeon's standard — every plan set and CNC kit is designed so the process is clear, the parts fit, and you end up with a boat.

"Graham Byrnes is a successful and innovative proponent of a boat style that perhaps has not yet been accepted in traditional circles. His boats are great performers by any standard."
